I'm certainly hoping its OK A great example of ada for emersed is Schruz's Works - Wabi Kusa, Emersed setups, Planted tanks | UK Aquatic Plant Society
Kisanjong, I am enjoying watching your plan progress. Points out to me the necessity of proper planning, and even then I see they change periodically. I have a much smaller plan under way (three or four planted tanks with fish and shrimp) in my den with water carried in, but with similar goals, primarily to ease servicing, but facilitate viewing. So I learn by watching you. Thanks
Rob Planning is one of the most important you must do and the other major one is do not hurry that is when you do not see the obvious mistakes. Keith
Thanks rodahl Yes planning prevents a lot of mistakes. my first choice would of been to use fishtanks instead of tubs but the cost was £100 each instead of £10+ each. Some people prefer a separate system to be able to change the water chemistry in individual rubs but for me I'm happy with a 6+ pH in all of them. I'm sure I will revise things as I go.
some updates.. after a full week of the system running im happy so far, everything is running as planned so that's good. the plants themselves seem to be fine and showing small signs of growth I've added a few random (PHONE CAMERA) photos to give you an ideas of whats going on. full-ish shot The sump, pump and overflow(just in case ) The plants Plagiochilaceae sp. Cameroon Moss has shown growth in a week here you can see how slow/fast the water trickle is sorry about the side photos its the camera phone, once i get onto the desktop ill rotate them
New growth from Anubias heterophylla that is using 50/50 clay balls/rockwool substrate And the easy to grow Hygrophila polysperma
Thanks all for the great comments. Today a different anubias is showing a new leaf, so far so good. I also got some rarer/uncommon plants last week that arrived let's say not very good, but I think it was weather related as you know it's very cold here . The good news is they are also starting to recover I'm going to make a basic Wabi and place a few plants in to see how it goes, if the plants are growing then it should be perfect for wabi's?
Jason If I every get not happy plants I trim all the damaged pieces and toss then in the tank and leave them alone and 99.9% survive. As long as the roots are healthy they will bounce back. Keith
