Hi, brand new to the site. I have been looking for a similar site for a while. I used to own a small tropical fish/reptile store and I have over 30 years experience with aquariums and terrariums. I have been out of the hobby for a while and recently decided I wanted to focus on plants. I am lucky enough to be located near Brian's Botanicals and got to see some really awesome stuff there yesterday that really got me thinking. I look forward to seeing what everyone else is doing and hopefully trading some plants at some point.
Hey Scott welcome to GBG The shop sounds great Where was your shop located? What made you sell the shop? When you say plants are you talking Aquarium or terrarium or plants in general? Looking forward to your information and knowledge Jason
My shop was in Jeffersonville Indiana. I had to close a couple of years ago because of some problems my business partner had. We had a good run considering we ended up running on a shoestring budget. I am mostly interested in terrarium plants now, but I was a big fan of Takashi Amano and had all of his books before most people in my area had heard of him. I was a participant on the Aquatic Plant Mailing list when the internet was still text so I know a decent amount about aquatic plants. Fish and aquariums are my strengths I would say. I am trying to chose a group of plants to focus on but still at the stage of falling in love with every new discovery. I saw some awesome stuff at Brian's yesterday and I am looking forward to trying my first wabi-kusa soon. Still not sure what plants I want to use for it.
Scott A big welcome to GBG, your skills will certainly be welcome here. I have completed two Terrascapes a 5ft and a small 45lt Air plant Terrascape. I was supposed to start on my third this year but I have had to put every thing on hold for a few months. Keith
