On the serious side, I am quite curious to see how this will come Jason.
Really looking forward to seeing all those rare plants you bought on this tank!

    Haha :)

The plants arrived but with delayed delivery, some melts and some good.. ludwigia white not looking good, most syngonanthus look ok, rotala butterfly, Floria, sunset etc are iffy but showing signs of progress.

Some I'll not use in this tank as i don't want for example six types of syngonanthus.

All the above are in my small tank i use to grow out when i only have one single stem etc.

Ones that do not make it I'll have Resent :)

    Small update.

Great news is I've ordered the new co2 regulator with a three way splitter on, originally I was going for a two way but they are out of stock, so three way it is, one spare for something...

My plan was to order it next month due to funds but after seeing a 20% voucher for the UK bank holiday I had to get it now saving me some £££s enough to buy a 5kg co2 cannister.

I've also managed to get everything setup except the co2 and planting, that should happen this week sometime.

4 way dosing pump is also setup as follows.

    Pump 1: TNC Trace Elements
    Analysis:-
    Fe 8.4% (EDTA), Mn 1.82% (EDTA), Zn 1.16% (EDTA), B 1.05%, Cu 0.23% (EDTA), Mo 0.15%

    Pump 2 Potassium Nitrate (KNO3)
    contains 13.9% nitrogen (N) and 38.7% potassium (K)

    Pump 3 Monopotassium Phosphate (KH2PO4)
    contains 22.8% phosphorous (P) and 28.7% potassium (K)

Pump 4 is free for future use if it's needed.

This is interesting Jason, so... from those solutions, how much do you plan dosing "per dose"? And what is that going to give you in ppms?

Sorry for the delayed updates.. been busy here sorting personal stuff out related to my father..

OK my plan was to start planting the tank at the weekend but it seems new tank syndrome has started, i.e diatoms etc so I'm going to wait that out and then start planting, on another note it's now fully cycled so I added 30 Amano Shrimp that I had ready for this tank, also planned are, black rose shrimp, bristle nose plecs, Siamese algae eaters and Otto's for the cleanup crew.

A while back I did mention that im not sure if I'm going to add any other livestock but I keep thinking about it so I'm open to suggestions..

Has anybody had any issues with Congo tetras and plants?

There is plenty of info about that on various Forums personally I would use the old rule "Buyer beware"

That is an excellent photo you do not see many tanks planted like that from the start of planting.

How long do you think it will take to be fully developed 1+ year or ???

    Thanks Keith :)

I would say in a month or two you will see most of the stem plants at full growth but once they are at certain height I will be topping them and replanting..

When I start doing this im going to reposition them based on color, leaf shape etc to give the tank a better contrast. It's the Dutch way..

Some plants I will be changing out for something that I think looks better? It's an on going project that will change slightly every month or so.

Dutch planted tanks, I have always had a soft spot for them. I can remember about 50 years ago admiring photos of them all fish less in Magazines at the LFS.

@Keith I agree they are also my favourite.. The big difference between a Dutch and a nature Aquarium is all the extra work involved with the Dutch style, still the rewards are worth while.

The tank is far from finished and I'm waiting on more plants to arrive for the blank areas and I've also removed/moved some plants.

I'll try and get a fts up tomorrow but here are some random plants pics

Trying to imitate nature as there are no set rules where Dutch its more of getting the colours/shades balancing perfect (well that's my opinion any way).

Yes contrast of colour, leave shapes etc is the real challenge here. Still it's a dutch hybrid so the strict Dutch rules are not in play but certainly a great guideline.

Then there is one very basic rule. Its in your home and as long as every one is happy that is the most important thing.

Many years ago I helped a young Mother build with the help of her young son a pirates cave tank (I even bought a few pieces for him) In the end it actually looked good and every one was very happy especially one little boy.

Its certainly not Aquascaping its "Boy Piratesscape"
