Yes, Cyathea australis is able to stand until -7 ° C - but only for a very short time and packed in warm. Even in our wine areas it is not possible to keep them outdoors in Winter, if the frost takes a longer time. A unheated glass winter garden would be great
One year ago I opened my mossgarden tank No. IV - it is time to do it again: Nothing changed very much, it becomes a bit more untidy - but no wonder, I do not interfere at all since years. I just want to see how it develops on its own. The slime mould is still there, but became less. The rendeer moss almost dissapeared. The sphagnum recovered well after it died almost last summer in the heat. Mosses creeping on the glass screen: The little green fern on the right has not been there yet. Maybe it is a "child" of the maidenhair spleenwort, that is almost dead in the meantime. It is really a very practical tank, survives all of my holidays and oes not cause work at all. I even did not clean it - but this would not have been wrong... if I am honest.
Great tank let nature take over and see what happens. I am thinking of growing a moss or ??? in the 5ft Terrascape half will have plenty of light where as the other half growing under palms. Keith
First thing, this is as far into your thread as I have got so far......... This is what I'm looking to do Evelyn, I found some moss, Ivy and ferns earlier in the year which is sat in the greenhouse in a box with a plastic sheet over it to retain the moisture although with the weather turning I think it needs a bit more attention. I will read on now
