I'm currently working on a new project that is a Paludarium style tank. 60/40 - Moss theme / Aquarium I have a dennerle 30L 30wX30dX45h ( i actually have a few of these now so maybe more projects are on the way ) I'll post images tomorrow on my progress.
OK i started by making the moss drip wall from left over stuff i had from a old hobby so the whole drip wall didn't cost me anything. I had some very dense foam used for modelling of some kind, i then cut to size and altered it a little so i could fit some home made drip wall plumbing (b&q). I then took some fabric called hygrolon which is a padded fabric that holds moisture from the drip wall and covered the foam adding a few features. Then comes the moss I cheated here by using ready grown moss, if this does not continue growing i will use my moss mix that seems to be working on my other project Now the tank. Because this is only a 40% water level i needed to keep the filter as low as possible so i can fit the drip wall in the tank at the same time. Substrate time. Using two different types of sand i came up with this design. you can also see the filter partition. and some décor. I then added the drip wall, filter and some more decor. More images coming later, I'm currently adding water to retest the drip wall and filter before adding the last few bits of décor
Drip wall test complete and working if you look carefully you can see the drips and the dripwall wood getting wet from the wall. more images later
Seems to be a few attachments missing? For some strange reason ill update these later and fix the mistake. Sorry about that
Fixed. once again sorry about that, i have no idea what happened.. and until now i could not fix it as i was at work.
so after all the tests are completed, I emptied the tank again to get rid of any cloudy water caused by the sand and now I'm refilling it.
Don't worry Jason, I think you work out everything very good in the forum!!! Great your report about the paludarium!!!
Now for livestock, the filter is already cycled and the water was from another tank that belonged to my six year old.... Japanese fire belly newts (Cynops pyrrhogaster) this was one of the main reasons i wanted a paludarium style tank as these spend 50/50 water land and my old tank is dated and needed a rescape.
Hello! It looks great. I´m impressed! Are that dripwall home-built or bougth at an earlier date? What kind of filter do you use? I like the idea of substrates with two different Colors.A nice residents!
Thanks Nordstern The drip wall was home made to fit this tank but i used items that i already had in my garage from previous projects / hobbies. in the journal you can see how i built it using PVC piping with hole drilled in the top/spray bar, Plumbing & Heating Fittings - PolyPlumb | Plastic Plumbing is available from most diy centres in the UK and properly the world? foam and materials as for the pump its a small submersible pump for example. https://www.eheim.com/en_GB/products/technology/pumps/compact its not the one i used but very similar / same thing
maybe i should make another one but this time a journal just for the dripwall?. I will do this but after my next project that greenfinger2 has inspired me to do wabi-kusa .
