Hello Today i start a new project... Oh look its a empty tank 20 Gallon Terrarium (30"x12"x12") with sliding screen top. My plan is to have a emersed tank with minimum water. The only downside to this post is you will need to wait for about 2 weeks for any updates as im away from home speak soon
forgot to add this plant to the list, very nice emersed flower Lindernia rotundifolia 'Variagated' - Aquarium Plants
if i can keep these plants in large pot sized spaces (100mmx100mm) i should end up with something like... my plan - (small plant images are property of tropica.com) this is the plan anyway. my only concern is the spread width of the larger plants. but only one way to find out
Substrate... I've chosen tmc nutrasoil because I have some left and also it will keep the water clean along with the tank. I was going to use john innes no3 because its cheap and a good soil but but its a messy job Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
Ok im back after a week or so away today I will start on the tank and update you guys during the progress. Sent from my SM-T210 using Tapatalk
OK on with the tank so far last night and this morning i came up with this. i added a small partition so i could keep the soil from entering the very back of the tank, this allows me to access the water level easier and also a place to add extra like an air stone / small filter. I left a very small gap under the partition so the water but not the soil is free to move around. in the back section of the tank im going to use that part for my moss selection. Time to add some water (straight ro water) hope you like the progress so far now on with the planting
Plants are in but i will make some changes over the next few days as i had to rush the last few pots due to other jobs for the day comments welcome Ill update this journal weekly just like my other journals. enjoy.
Now back to the partition and the main reason for it was to keep a small area with a water level. Because.. Take some old left over piping i had in the garage and tie moss to it. Then add it to the tank some parts of the moss are submersed under the water level but some of it is emersed.
I was unsure about light reaching the bottom of the tubes so I did add a extra light in that area. My main concern was the emersed moss and will it actually grow? Only one way to fine out The humidity is currently at 78% and last time I sprayed was 12 hours ago.
Just a small update to show you the humidity that is in the tank after 15 hours since i last sprayed. I have also noticed that a lot of the plants are starting to stand up on their own which is a good thing?
