this is the hob on a 5 gallon I am setting up - probably not supposed to do this but I like to experiment and it looks healthy so far

    plants in filter.

I have also done a terrarium ? not quite sure of the correct term but we have such a great source of plant life where I live I feel compelled to try different things

    polaroid mbGod.

and 1 more - that's enough for now , dont want to bore you !! Thanks for looking

    DSCF0344.

I love this website/forum as it covers the huge area not really included in planted tank forums . Thank you to the moderator and creator of this site.

Great stuff haytch, they are looking great and i love experiments.

ive seen a few people use hob filters and a emersed plant pot, so i imagine it cant do that much harm?.

Thanks for your comments on the website, as you can see we are changing a few things and widening the area of topics covered so im open to your suggestions and feedback on this.

Thank you kisanjong ....... I think the name change was an improvement as "glass box gardeners" sort of covers it all , but at the same time distinguishes the site .
Well done , a good choice

This is a recent one with only pebbles, mosses and some lichen . The very delicate plant at the top needs identification. It is probably called a weed by most but I love it's delicate form and fast growth rate

    HOB

Yes it will grow plants and so it should its full of nutrients for strong growth.

Two concerns the roots "could" clog up the filter.
The other major point is, how do you clean/change the filter medium without disturbing the plants.

On the other hand its great to experiment and learn.

As Keith pointed out the only problem would be the media replacement? But thinking about it the method is very similar to aquaponics? The waste from the fish will be very good for the plants.

I fully realise its a very fine point but presentation is very important as you want posters stop and look at your work.

The black backing is excellent but the shiny surface its on gave you a reflection (I photoshoped it out) to show you the difference.

A black slate tile is great for photos.

I also notice a white rock and ???? as I often say its a Traffic Light it is an attention getter.
Dark natural/black tonings would have been a better choice.

Plants a weed is a weed but, if its not in your garden and in a container plus it looks lovely there who cares.

With a few minor changes you have done an excellent job there, its a KIS Keep It Simple piece of work

I am also on several Forums some totally unrelated to GBG and at 77yld I am still learning something new every day.

Aquascaping/Fish keeping and Design work is what I have had the most experience, I enjoy helping and passing on my knowledge.
