Evelyn Some of the access roads are not safe to drive on because of all the burnt trees etc are on the road of falling on the road making it too dangerous. Keith
Glomeridae That fire was started by a lighting strike. We have what is called "Total Fire Ban" days that includes many farm machinery being used because of the hot exhaust pipes. But there are idiots who are sick in the head light them for the fun of it. Keith
This is crazy and frightening to think people do that for fun... We have also this kind of things in summer in South of France, so I'm not surprised but always shocked to think this is actually possible.
My Heart go out to all the people effected. It must be heart braking to see your whole life go up in flames.
Today Its in the high 30s with strong winds and many residents were told to evacuate by 10am today NYE or stay and take the risk. More thunder storms expected in the next few days. Keith
No new news must be all OK today mid20s but a strong cool southerly winds the worst are hot and strong northerly. This might sound OK but with a strong Southerly it can turn the fire to a different unburnt area. Being at the ocean plenty of water for the water bombers. Keith
Keith, we've had some people here who've started fires to get jobs as fire fighters and a couple of years ago, a woman who was lost set one to get found and started one of the largest fires we've ever had. They just don't think ahead about their actions.
Keith, What is your town? Happy new year to you and your family. Everyone's gone home now and the house is very quiet except for the overflow of my aquarium!
Rob My town is Rosebud Victoria 3939 Its marked on the map, the actual fires area is not marked as its so large. Keith
Rob By road from Melbourne CBD its 75k to Rosebud and as the crow flies about 60k. We we are 2k+ from the beach and close to 8k from the ocean. Keith
